Exchanging experience on the electoral system in UK and Denmark
On the 18-25 November 2015 Representatives of the Republic of Uzbekistan visited Denmark and the United Kingdom in order to further develop democratic reforms and the improve electoral system in our country. The visit was carried out with the assistance of the OSCE Project Coordinator in Uzbekistan.
In Denmark, the meetings were organized in the Parliament, Ministry of Foreign and Social Affairs, Office of Statistics, and the city council of Copenhagen.
In the UK, the delegation held consultations in Parliament, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Election Commission, the head of local administrations Society, Local Government Association of England and Wales and the London municipality of Kensington and Chelsea.
In the course of the presentations, the delegates informed their Western colleagues about the electoral system in Uzbekistan, the activities of the Central Election system as well as the recent parliamentary and presidential elections in the Republic of Uzbekistan, making emphasis on the large number of foreign observers who took part in these activities.
The Uzbek delegation was familiarized with the system of elections in both countries, studied Danish and British experience on the formation of the electronic voter lists, conduct propaganda work among the population and the introduction of different types of technologies in the activities of individual ministries and services responsible to conduct elections.
During the visit, the sides also discussed future trainings of Uzbek specialists in the workshops, the participation of Danish and British experts in international conferences in Uzbekistan, mutual participation of delegates in future elections as observers, as well as exchange of experience in the introduction of modern technologies and methods of organization of the elections.
The results of the visit will allow Uzbek experts to apply Western practice while preparing and conducting elections in Uzbekistan.
