Secretary General of the International Gas Union: Potential of Uzbekistan in oil and gas industry is very high











Yesterday Tashkent hosted the opening of the 20th anniversary of the International Conference "Oil and gas sector in Uzbekistan: technologies, investments and development" in the framework of the International Exhibition "Oil and Gas of Uzbekistan-2016” (OGU).

Anniversary gathered industry experts and advanced companies of the world, including the leadership of the International Gas Union and the European Commission on Energy and representatives of General Electric, LUKOIL, Uz-Kor Gas Chemical, Worley Parsons, HYUNDAI Engineering, Schlumberger, HMS Group companies, Honeywell UOP, Turboden, Velan. Thus, the event involved over 200 companies from 26 countries.

Representative audience of participants discussed the issues of cooperation in oil and gas projects. Speakers informed of the priority directions of development of fuel and energy complex of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2016-2020.
During breakout sessions carried out detailed discussion of the promising areas of cooperation in this economy sector. The plenary sessions on the themes "The oil and gas industry of Uzbekistan: New horizons of growth", "Expansion of the hydrocarbon base in Uzbekistan: more efficient exploration and production of oil and gas in Uzbekistan", "Investment potential of the oil and gas industry of Uzbekistan, international cooperation - a success story and new opportunities" conducted on the first day of the conference.
The section "Young Scientists" operated inside of conference. The presentations of scientific ideas, innovative solutions, exchange of views on topical issues of industry research have been presented in the regular mode.
During the conference, the correspondent of Jahon Information Agency talked with the Secretary General of the International Gas Union, Paul Rasmussen, who said the following:
- Now the various sources of energy and the development of this sector are in the spotlight, as they are an important factor in improving the modern industry. Events like this one are very relevant in terms of the further economy advancement. Conducting such regional events along with global forums contribute to a coordinated approach in addressing the oil and gas industry.
In my opinion, the potential of Uzbekistan in this area is very high. I see the great scope for increasing gas production. We plan to discuss the possibilities of investment cooperation in this regard, we are encouraged by the openness of Uzbekistan to such interaction. After all, this industry aimed at high productivity.
In report to the conference, I said that the mankind needs for energy resources will increase. Accordingly, developing of renewable energy and mining natural gas friendly in many ways will become pressure. We believe that the volume of gas in the world will increase and the percentage of its usage will also grow.
I want to thank the organizers for inviting me to take part in the International exhibition "Oil and Gas Uzbekistan 2016" and this conference. It was well organized important event for the region. Meetings between the interested parties were organized within the framework of event.
My wishes for any conference is always associated with increased use of gas in the world. I wish you all the best for the people of Uzbekistan and the further development of the energy sector.
