Book of Condolence opened at the Embassy
The Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in London with great sorrow informs that HE Mr Islam Karimov, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan has passed away on the 2nd September 2016 in Tashkent, as the result of severe cerebral circulation impairment (acute stroke), leading to irreversible changes in the brain and multiple organ failure.
In honour of the wish of our dear President, he will be buried on the 3rd September 2016 in accordance with Muslim customs in his native city of Samarkand, where his parents were buried. Farewell ceremony with the First President of Uzbekistan will be held in Samarkand on the 3rd September 2016.
Three days of national mourning are declared in Uzbekistan from the 3rd September 2016.
Council of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis (Parliament), Council of the Senate and the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan have decreed on creation of the state commission on organization of the funeral. The commission is led by HE Mr Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan.
A book of condolence will be opened for signing at the Embassy (41 Holland Park, London W11 3RP) on the following days:
- Saturday 3rd September 2016, between 9am and 6pm
- Sunday 4th September 2016, between 9am and 6pm
- Monday 5th September 2016, between 9am and 6pm
- Tuesday 6th September 2016, between 9am and 6pm.
If you wish to write an official letter of condolence, please kindly address it to HE Mr Nigmatulla Yuldashev, Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis (Parliament) of Uzbekistan. The Embassy will be ready to relay such letters to its Highest Addressee.
